About Us
The California Short Term Rental Association (CalSTRA) is a grassroots 501 (c) 6 organized by responsible short-term rental hosts. CalSTRA represents property owners, vacation rental industry operators, employees, and rental platforms dedicated to advancing fair and effective short-term rental policies across California.
We work to strengthen and unify the voice of the industry in discussions with local, state and federal policymakers & community groups to develop fair and effective regulations that benefit California’s communities and short-term rental market. We empower residents & business owners to support tourism and protect property rights while fostering sustainable economic growth. CalSTRA connects members with updated information, advocacy resources, and a community of like-minded professionals committed to industry success.
“Short-term rentals (STRs) are critical to regional economies, offering unique and affordable experiences to visitors, generating significant tax revenue to support local governments, and providing hosts significant income. In some places where hotel inventory is limited due to land constraints or other development challenges, STRs expand the number of visitors a region can accommodate, helping bring more money into a region.”
